So, I have some new and wonderful aquaintences (dare I say friends) who are professional musicians. I am hoping that it would be worth it for them to make massage/relaxation music. My main question to everyone is:

What kind of CD cover art draws you to purchase (or sample) the music within?

• And, what kind of cover art would insipire you to listen (if you didn't have a direct referral to the music) for:
  • Blues related massage music
  • Steel Guitar related massage music
  • Acoustic guitar related massage music
  • Flamenco-type related massage music?

If you have any other comments, I would love to hear them! Hopefully I'll be putting up some specific polls in the future, but I am not sure what they should be at this time.

That would require actually looking at CDs, which I don't do... I'm guessing this isn't the best leverage point to be looking at in terms of marketing massage music. There are probably many other factors/strategies to look into that would give more return on time/energy invested than focusing on the album artwork.

Ego, would you be kind enough to let me know what would "draw" to you sample or buy.

And, *if* you were to look at cover art, what would affect your senses for those styles of music?

Honestly Pueppi I have read this post several times as you know most Admins/Mods do.

As far as cover art I guess I know what I like when I see it? I have a friend that is a musician and she does music for massage. I have mentioned her before... but her website is: http://www.hanaimusic.com.
As far as cover art honestly I think it depends on the musician... the flavor of the music... the instruments used, etc.

I would have to say I think that instruments used on the CD and length of CD are important to me... and quite frankly the titles of the songs often are one of the big things that attracts me to at least listen to "snippets" on music kiosks or thru iTunes, etc.

Is that good enough?

I'm a big fan of piano music as well as acoustic guitar. Really anything that has some sort of rhythm (no "white noise" or a single note from a synthesizer the whole song.. That's just irritating! :irked: )

I don't think I pay too much attention to the cover art. I've found that I am really picky about my music and I've sat at those music kiosks and listened to every single sample of every single album before :undecided:

pueppi, I'm thinking our tastes in massage music are somewhat different. That said , , , I often feel I've given my best massage when I've been as zoned as my client, many times feeling that I've also received as much, even though I was giving. So, if I'm seeing artwork (or words) indicating that the music helps achieve meditation, dream like/zen like states of mind I'd probably give it a listen. . . .(be careful what you wish for as you might get stuff like this)

I prefer quiet in my MFR sessions. People are unused to quiet so they never start to listen to their own body.

No music for me so I am not ignoring you, I am just no help.

If I ever buy music, it is because I have heard it on the radio or internet and I would have no clue what the cover is until I buy it!
