Last week a woman who claimed that a masseur sexually assaulted her at a massage chain filed suit for $25 million.
The woman claimed that the chain knew that 24-year-old Habtamu Gebreselassie had been accused of assaulting women before and that therefore they should not have hired him in the first place. She claimed in the suit that Massage Envy had โfull knowledge he had committed a prior sexual assault,โ yet โnegligently retained him as a massage therapist and then willfully, wantonly and recklessly allowed and arranged for him to come into contact with vulnerable unsuspecting female patrons for profit.โ

In the suit, the woman described how, toward the end of a 90-minute massage session, Gebreselassie lifted up a sheet that was supposed to be covering her and made inappropriate oral sexual contact.
The woman went to the hospital, where she was given medicine to combat sexually transmitted diseases. However, she doesnโt know yet whether or not she contracted anything, which is distressing to her.
โShe will continue to suffer such pain and suffering for the rest of her life, and she will continue to incur medical, therapeutic, lost wages and related expenses,โ the womanโs lawyers say in the suit.
Gebresselassie is at the center of four reports of sexual misconduct now, with three other women claiming that he assaulted them in a similar manner.
