FAIRFIELD — Massage Envy-Cordelia provides its clients services that are customized each session to address problem areas, pressure points and medical issues to make sure that everyone leaves feeling energized.
The owner, Sanjay Goswami, knows first hand the benefits of massage therapy.
“I am a computer engineer by profession and spent the last 28 years, before buying the business, working in the technology sector,” he said. “Six years back, I injured my back, damaging nerve and discs in my back. Due to my chronic back pain, I was not able to put in the long hours of sitting required as an engineer.”
Nearly bedridden, he came to Massage Envy for weekly massages. He found that it was the only thing to relieve his chronic back pain.
Gradually he began feeling better and started walking again on his own with the help of several surgical implants, which helped control pain impulses to his brain.
“I wanted to open my Massage Envy to help give this kind of relief to others,” he said.
It just so happened the previous owner was looking to sell. Goswami used all his retirement savings and put it into the business.
A total renovation of the facility was completed recently, with six rooms for individual massage, one room for couples massage. Goswami also added a facial microderm machine, which helps to take off the top dead layers of skin. Chemical peels are also offered.
A 60-minute massage session includes 50 minutes of hands-on service and 10 minutes for consultation and dressing. A 90-minute session includes 80 minutes of hands-on service and 10 minutes for consultation and dressing.
Massage Envy staff see all types of clients, from cancer patients looking for some relaxing time with a massage to people with injuries from car accidents who need massage to help stop pain.
“This is the most cost-effective way to provide a better quality of life,” Goswami said.
