RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that junior Colton Davis, of the baseball team, is the Massage Envy Student-Athlete of the Week.

Davis improved to 4-0 on the season after pitching seven strong innings against Lamar as he guided the Vaqueros to a 5-2 win, which snapped their five-game losing streak.

Davis allowed just one run through his career-high tying seven innings while scattering seven hits and striking out six.

On the season, Davis is 4-0 with a 2.02 ERA while pitching in a team-high 35.2 innings. Davis has struck out 30 batters this season while hitters are batting .215 against him. Davis ranks fourth in the WAC in ERA, third in innings pitched, eighth in opposing batting average against, and third in wins.

The Vaqueros will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Houston Baptist University Huskies at 6:30 p.m. at the UTRGV Baseball Stadium.
