RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that freshman KaCee Kyle, of the women's basketball team, is the Message Envy Student-Athlete of the Week.
Kyle, from Greenwood Village, Colorado, averaged 9.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game last week.
Kyle, who has made 18 straight starts, started off the week with six points against New Mexico State with three assists.
Kyle followed that with eight points and three rebounds against Lamar before posting her best game of the season against Abilene Christian.
Against the Wildcats, Kyle recorded her first-career double-double with 13 points and 15 assists with a steal and two rebounds. The 15 assists were not only a career-high, but Kyle also tied the program record for most assists in a single game.
On the season, Kyle is averaging 6.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game over 23 games.
The Vaqueros will be back in action on Thursday when they host the Seattle U Redhawks at 7 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
