RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced on Monday that redshirt senior Kevin Stevens, of the baseball team, is the Massage Envy Student-Athlete of the Week.

Stevens was named to the All-WAC Tournament Team for his performance in the opening game of the WAC Tournament against Sacramento State.

Stevens pitched a career-high tying 8.0 innings while allowing just one run and striking out 12. Stevens allowed just six hits and two walks leading the Vaqueros to a 2-1 victory.

Stevens finished the season 9-2 with a 2.66 ERA. In 81.1 innings, he racked up 100 strikeouts, tied for the 10th-highest single-season total in program history, while walking 29, allowing 69 hits, and holding opponents to a .230 batting average. Stevens was also named to the All-WAC First Team for the second time in his career.

Stevens finished his career with 228 strikeouts, the sixth-highest total in program history.
