Watch out Massage Envy.
Massage Heights said it plans to enter the Illinois market and open 35 Chicago-area massage therapy locations over the next seven years.
The San Antonio-based company said it has awarded franchise rights to the Chicago market, and the franchisees have signed a lease for their first "retreat" in Naperville, scheduled to open this summer.
Geneva, Orland Park and Schaumburg are targeted for locations during the next few years. Massage Heights currently has more than 140 locations, a spokeswoman said.
Massage Heights, which said it had 2015 revenues of $86 million, will compete against Massage Envy, which has about four dozen locations in Illinois, according to its website.
The Chicago-area Massage Heights franchisees are Raj Patel and his business partner Jay Punukollu, according to a news release. Patel has owned several franchises in his career, including Dunkin' Donuts and Tilted Kilt, the company said.
