Massage offered at a coffee shop?

Has anyone ever heard of massage therapy being offered at a coffee shop? I think it's a bit outside of the box, but is it unacceptable?

I have been offered a room at a local coffee shop to make into a massage room if I want it. I just don't know if it is a good idea or not. She has also offered me space to bring in herbal supplements to retail. I am torn between the business opportunity of it, and the sensibility. Is this a lame idea, or possibly a unique one?

The town I used to live in had this great massageplanete where you could get fresh juices, coffees, and best of all: bodywork. Different practitioners had the room on different days and they looked like they were doing well. Offerings included: reiki, massage, hypnotherapy, tarot card readings, nutrition consultations, aura photos and some others that I don't remember now.

The massageplanete was very hippy, their front room had all hemp clothing, and everything was fair-trade, organic or local grown. This may be why the bodywork and holistic offerings went over so well.

I don't see a problem with it.

One of my ideas in the past has been to have a coffee, smoothie, sweets, checkers, chess, reading (even possibly quilting -- for mom) place which has a large room way in the back for massage therapy (me). You know, in a small town with a storefront-type historical building.

I like the idea if it fits you.

Well heck, the coffee smell (mmmmmm ) sure beats the chemical smell of many salons!

Make sure to check the noise level. One of the spaces I work out of is right next door to a coffee shop now and it can be really noisy with the grinders, blenders etc. Other then that I think it would be a great place. Just make sure you are well sound proofed.

If it doesn't seem like the space would work out for private massages, you could always do chair massage there!

Ive done chair massage @ a coffee shop before. Dont see why you couldnt have a room there, cept for the noise. And not everyone likes the smell of coffee! (whatever is WRONG with them? lol)
