Massage Parties/How to Market Them

I've done hours and hours of research on the best way to do Massage Parties.  I have put a lot of money into advertising, paperwork, and products.  I've come up with a party plan that hostesses having a party can earn free massage or massage products through sales at their parties.Following is my plan, but I'm not getting any response from newspaper ads.  I would like any and all advice on how I may be able to market my parties.I am currently marketing the parties as home parties such as Candlelite, Pampered Chef etc.  I designed post cards for the hostesses to send to their friends inviting them to come and get a free chair massage.  I also have a lot of different stress relief products available that the guests can use and try on each other, such as the bongers, spindle foot massager, biofreeze and many others.  Through sales of product and gift cert. the hostess can earn a free massage. Anyway you get the gist  of things.  I think its a great idea but I'm not getting anyone to book the parties.  I did about 4 parties last year and then it fizzled out.Please give me some ideas to get this off the ground.Thanks, Penny

Hi Penny, I too have done many parties.  They are hard to advertise.  I would never spend money doing so.  I too, have a postcard available and  hostess incentives.  The best place to start is with you, and your closest friends and family members.  From there you get people to book parties.  That is the best way to get started.  Or, you can buddy up with someone who sells, jewlery, candles, etc...  I have also done this as well.  So many people are not educated about massage and spa treatments, believe it or not.  Some people just don't get it.  So it's up to you to help educate them.  Get everyone over to your house for a party and start there.  Good Luck!!

Like Sandy said, team up with another "consultant" that holds parties like you're going to offer.  See if they will allow you to feed off their clients in exchange for a few massages for them.  Once you get some interest the parties will build on themselves if you give something for booking another appointment before you leave the party you're attending.  (Just like Pampered Chef... etc)  Talk to friends who could post flyers at their jobs.  I've seen Mary Kay do that.  If that's your model, keep your eyes and ears peeled for their advertising/marketing.

Hey, thanks for the input so far.  I have done the party at my house but its been well over a year, so maybe it's time to do that again.I like the idea of working with another consultant, I've not done that yet, but will look into it.Thanks again for your ideas!
