I am wondering if anyone out there has done a massage party and how they went about it. I know i can do one for a chair massage, but what about a table massage party. Would ya charge the person hosting the party? ANy ideas out there?

I often take my table to expos and other events...you'd do it like any other event...some hosts pay, some patons pay. One feller had a Tastefully Simple party and had me come too...I made a good amount of money, TS made some sales, host had a good party for his friends.

Expos...the villagers pay for themselves.

I did one party. I used a chair and charged by the minute. The hostess got a free 1-hour massage for hosting. The unfortunate thing is that I never got any business from it. Even the person that won the free massage never collected (something I see happening a lot in the industry).

I have seen where people do table massage, but one can't do an hour on a table for many people because the party would last hours. I could see it if there is more than one therapist. Or else doing table massage clothed for only 15-20 minutes.

Past that, I wouldn't know what to do with it. Now I have talked with people who teach massage parties. They simply say that they go in, talk about massage, sell products and gift certificates, and DO NO MASSAGE. Not for me.

Just wanted to share what I offer through my business.

We are doing a party next week and we
are doing it someones home. I am bringing an esthetician, and 2 other massage therapists. I, and another therapist will be doing 20 min. back neck and shoulder massages, the other therapist will be doing hand and foot pumpkin parafin dip and massage. The est. will be doing a mini pumpkin facials. Each client is getting 2- 20 minute services. Now we do not make tons of money at these parties. This ones going to cost the hostess maybe $400-500. Each therapist will take home about $90 plus tips. I pay each therapist $15 per client they work on. However, we look at this opportunity to grow our private businesses and network.
Every party I have had has been great!!! I also made some really nice matching aprons for each of us to wear, so we look professional and comfortable at the same time.

Ive done one massage party. Just a small group of women who got together for girls night in, wanted something different. I did 3 massages, 2 ear candlings, and one foot treatment. it was fun for me, too!

Yes that does sound like fun. Did you do 3 one hour massages? How much did you charge? Did you charge the hostess the full one hour price?

I charged full price for all services. What I didnt charge was a trip fee for lugging all my gear out & setting up, so that saved them a bit of $. It was fun, they had finger food set up....oops, my bad, I have done two parties!!! How soon we forget! The 2nd was a luncheon a woman had for her friends, she was doing Mary Kay makeovers after the massages. That was fun, too!

The hostess is paying for the whole party. Usually this isn't the case and each guest pays their therapist at the end of their treatment.

Chair massage question

Does anyone out there do chair massage at companies.? I am trying to come up with my pricing for that too. I have a few people interested in that for their companies. I like the $$ a minute deal, but do ya charge for your travel time like a regular outcall appt.

Michelle, I do a law firm every other week
I am not doing chair massage, but rather table massage. Each employee gets a 20min. massage for $25. The lawyer pays for this. I work on about 12-15 people each time.

If the employees are paying. I have a 6 person minimum and charge $1 per minute.

Simple rule of thumb

Chair massage is always higher than table massage

Employee paid should always cost more than Employer Paid

I am curious as to why should employee paid always cost more than employer paid? Employee-paid is usually per minute, or per session and employer-paid is usually for a block of time. It is like comparing apples and oranges, or maybe oranges and grapefruit!

ive done a bit of chair massage for companies (a health care facility hires me to work on their nurses & CNAs sometimes) I have never gotten regular customers (in my office) at any of these events, even though my business is local. Its a good gig, though. When i do them, the business usually hires me, and pays, not the employees.
