Massage Table for home

Hi all,

I'm thinking about purchasing a massage table for my home. I don't mind spending a few dollars to get something decent. I would like to be able to fold it up and put it away for when it's not in use.

Could I get some recommendations please. I'd like it to be sturdy and well made. Are there accessories I should buy with it?

Most of the tables listed are portable (can fold up) and are priced between $300-$600 on average. You can use Google to search for the best prices.

As for accessories, make sure you get a face cradle. Everything else is optional. You can consider: bolsters, armrests, table warmer, fleece table cover, and a massage stool. Any store that sells the table will also sell the accessories.

I'd definitely suggest Reiki endplates. Even if your therapist doeas't perform energy work, it won't reduce the table weight tolerance and you will have a more versitile table for the future. This coming from a deep tissue therapist who did not order Reiki endplates on any of her tables and sees the advaneforum.xxxes of them these many years later!

Look on e-bay, sometimes you can get a good deal there, as well as Craigslist.

I just finished reading the other thread adn wanted to add some additional considerations.

1-If you plan to stick with a particular massage therapist you should ask them what table they use, whether they lke it, etc. For example, I have a particular table that is easier for my to adjust than some of the others which, as a shorter massage therapst, is important to me to be able to work on my bulkier clients. So she may be partial to a specfic brand/set up, etc.
2- If you are hopng for a discounted session because you have her table already set up, you may want to check with her first and make sure she is ok with any changes in the arrangement before you invest a significant amount of money. Because if she isn't, and you've purchased a table she prefers, and you are going to end up finding a new massage therapist ANYWAY if she won't cut her rates even further - well, you'd have a certain table already purchased and whatever new MT you found might prefer a different set up. :-D

Having said that - there are lots of tables available with starter kits already set up - a basic bolster, face rest, even first set of sheets sometimes, all included with in one package price.
