massage table warming pads - advice please

It's been so cold the last couple of days and I'm now thinking of buying a warming pad for my massage table to keep clients nice and cosy. Does anyone use one of these/can recommend a good supplier? The other option I was thinking about was an electric blanket but thought something specifically designed for a massage table might be better, any thoughts anyone?

As long as you watch the temperature correctly electric blankets for domestic use are a lot cheaper.

table warmers designed specifically for massage dont get too hot on purpose so there is no danger of harming client.

Hi, I've recently bought a sheepskin covered electric single blanket with 6 temperature settings and my clients love it. It's washable too... but I cover it with a blanket and some towels just to try to keep it free of oil. It works a treat. I bought it from Argos and was £25 and well worth the money at this time of year.

We don't use heated blankets on the couch but we normally have the treatment room at about 75 degrees so it is warm enough, we do however have a towel on the heater to cover them with

Hi,
The electric blanket I bought is shorter than the couch so the couch hole is not covered by it.
The blanket has tapes at the top, middle and bottom so they cross under the couch and don't show.
Of course there is also heating in the treatment room but when you the therapist are massaging, you can get very warm yourself depending on the type of massage you are giving. So it's more comfortable for the client to have underneath heating as well as warm air circulating. The warmth of the blanket also helps the client to relax more at the beginning.
As the weather has been so dreadful over the last few weeks the sheepskin electric blanket with 6 heat settings has been a godsend and very much appreciated by my clients. I usually turn it up full at the start of the day, before the clients arrive and then turn it down to a 3-4 setting as the day progresses. It has a safety cut out feature too - so it turns itself off after an hour on 4-6. Turning it on again just means reducing the settings to make sure the blanket is still warm.
I also use the couch for Usui Reiki sessions, where client's can become so relaxed that their body temperature drops, so it works to keep them comfortable too.
Hope this doesn't come across as an advertisment, but I am pleased with it.

I to thought this was a fantastic idea to warm up my couch so I went hunting round to see what I could find. The problem was finding one that would fit onto the couch nicely and not overhang and get in the way etc.

After much searching I found a small sort of child like size ( 61cm x 122cm) washable heated underblanket. Its made by Morphy Richards ( model no 75163) and I got it from Tesco Direct with delivery for just under £20. It came more or less the next day and it has been absolutely fantastic. It fits a normal size couch just right.

It has 3 temp settings and I have found with trial and error that you need to turn it on a while before you need to use it and cover it with a towel, then your couch cover then put another nice big fluffly towel or blanket over it all to keep the heat in till the client is ready to get on the couch. That way it is just lovely and snuggley for them and they will love it !!!!

And it stops you having to have the room to hot and uncomfortable for yourself.

Works for me anyway and is nice and cheap !!!

Hi, just to get back to your query about the model number
it is a Morphy Richards and was £25 from Argos.
Sorry I can't remember the model number. But it has 6 heat settings and it really works. It cuts out after an hour if you leave it on too high, so I generally put it on at the start of day on high and lower it before the first client arrives.
It stays warm and comfortable all day that way. Plus the sheepskin is snug too.
It has tapes at top middle and bottom, and just fits the body area of the couch. The head part just needs a pillow or whatever you use.
It even stays on when folded up to go out to clients.
The Tesco one must be new as I had looked for one there before finding mine at Argos.

Hi all

I use a single Morphy Richards electric blanket all year round. As you say, it straps to the bed really well, can't be felt by the client as the wires are so thin and only costs 2p for a few hours worth of use. My clients love it and because I get so hot doing the massage can even have the room a degree or two cooler for me. It's nice and warm and snug for them and has different heat settings although I leave it on the hottest and haven't had any problems at all!
