A massage therapist has been charged with sexually assaulting one of his clients, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Daniel Holbert, 48, was arrested without incident Tuesday at the G Train Fitness Gym in North Hollywood after being charged by county prosecutors with one felony count of sexual penetration by false representation, authorities said.
Holbert was not employed by the gym but often conducted massage sessions there, said Sgt. Brian Hudson of the Special Victim’s Bureau.
Investigators say they were now looking to talk with Holbert’s other clients.
“We don’t have any specific reason to believe there are additional victims, but he worked as a massage therapist for a long time,” said Hudson. “Our concern is that there may be additional victims that have never come forward.”
According to authorities, an unnamed female in her 30s reported that she met Holbert at the gym and received multiple massage treatments from him there. After several treatments, Holbert suggested that they conduct future sessions at his or her residence for more privacy. Because Holbert had acted appropriately up to that point, the woman agreed.
The woman claimed that Holbert came to her home in Santa Clarita on March 12 for a scheduled appointment, and that during the therapy session he sexually assaulted her.
“The act was done as if it was part of the treatment of the massage she was getting,” said Hudson.
According to the sheriff’s online inmate information, Holbert is free after posting $100,000 bail.
