A licensed massage therapist has been charged with inappropriately touching a 21-year-old woman who arrived at a Maidencreek Township spa for a medical massage.
Northern Berks Regional police charged Keith E. Galvin Jr. by summons April 5.Galvin, 32, of Germansville, Lehigh County, appeared for his arraignment and a hearing Tuesday before District Judge Thomas M. Gauby Sr., Bern Township. After hearing testimony, Gauby ordered Galvin held for court on indecent assault and harassment charges. Galvin remained free.Investigators provided this account in the criminal complaint:The patient, whose name is being withheld, went to Lords & Ladies Salon and Medical Spa, 12 Ingot Drive, on March 8, for a massage for neck and back pain.A spokeswoman for Lords & Ladies said Galvin was never employed by the company, which has multiple locations in Berks. She said Galvin performed massage therapy in space provided by the company, but he was employed by a surgeon. The woman said Galvin told her the pain was probably related to stress and recommended aromatherapy, saying he, too, was stressed out.He advised her to undress to the level she was comfortable and left the room. She was nude under a sheet on the massage table, as is customary for therapeutic massages, when he returned. Galvin had her lay on her back. He massaged her shoulder and pectoral muscles, then fondled her.Galvin kept asking the woman if she was comfortable, but she said she did not respond because she was scared and shocked.Galvin covered her up, stating, "I don't normally do this." He repeatedly apologized, saying he felt like she was "coming on" to him. After the massage, Galvin told her that he would remove the extra charge for aromatherapy from her bill. He told her not to say anything about what had happened because he could get in trouble and that he could "do a lot of good" in his life.Contact Steven Henshaw: 610-371-5028 or [email protected].
