Opening her own business is a dream come true for Brandy Davis.
As owner, she welcomed family, friends and customers to the grand opening of My Therapy Cloud on Saturday, located across from the Scott & White Specialty Clinic on Clear Creek Road.
The 31-year-old licensed massage therapist said she was inspired to become a massage therapist after she benefited from massage treatments for injuries she received while serving in the Navy.
โI was a wounded warrior, and I became a massage therapist to help other wounded warriors,โ said Davis. โI want to help people the way I was helped.โ
Throughout the afternoon, the crowd toured the 3,000-square-foot building and its five suites, a meditation room and a dressing room.
Each guest also received a free gift bag filled with lotions and enjoyed a light buffet.
Michelle Craghead has never had a massage before, so the busy mom is looking forward to some relaxation.
โI need some Me Time, and this is a great place to get it,โ Craghead said.
Relaxing in one of the massage rooms, Sue Gustum received a free hand and arm massage from a therapist.
โIโve had massages before, so I know how wonderful it feels and this hits the spot. I know Iโll come back,โ Gustum said.
A Louisiana native, Davis attended massage therapy school there graduating in 2015 but returned to Killeen to open her business.
โKilleen is a good area for entrepreneurs, so I returned because itโs a growing community that needs a massage and spa business,โ she said.
Davis and her staff focus on a variety of massage methods, including Swedish, deep tissue, hot and cold stone massage, reflexology and sports massage and steam treatment.
They also offer prenatal massage.
So far, start-up costs were about $55,000, including repainting, and installing new massage and office equipment. In addition to Davis, there are three spa coordinators and three licensed massage therapists, including Anjelique Gregory, who has eight years of experience.
โEveryone here is passionate about massage and has that healing touch to help people. We will do a lot of good for our clients,โ Gregory said.
Davis added it all comes down to what benefits the client the most.
โAll the work is worth it when a client says thatโs the best massage heโs ever had,โ she said. โI love being a massage therapist and it is what I was meant to do.โ
