Massage therapist
charged with abuse
A massage therapist was arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman while giving her a massage Sunday at a business in Northwest Washington.
Police received a report about 2:45 p.m. that Habtamu Gebreslassie, 24, of Silver Spring had allegedly sexually assaulted a client at Massage Envy in the 4900 block of Wisconsin Avenue NW during a massage, court documents said.
In a statement emailed to The Washington Post, Massage Envy LLC, a national chain with more than 1,100 locations, said Gebreslassie was no longer employed by the company.
โMassage Envy requires franchisees to complete extensive background screenings and reference checks and strictly enforce our Code of Conduct and Zero Tolerance Policy to ensure guests have a safe and professional experience when they visit a franchised location,โ the statement said.
Gebreslassie was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, D.C. police said. Charging documents filed in D.C. Superior Court indicate he denied the allegations.
Woman is killed in car crash in Southeast
A 43-year-old woman was killed early Sunday in a head-on vehicle crash in Southeast Washington, according to D.C. police.
The crash occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Good Hope Road SE. Police identified the victim as Talata Williams of Southeast Washington.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of a Dodge involved in the accident was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

killed in Riverdale
Prince Georgeโs police identified the man who was fatally shot Saturday in Riverdale as Carlos Garita-Salazar, 19.
Police said Garita-Salazar, of Riverdale, was found in a car in the 6000 block of 67th Place after officers responded to the report of a shooting about 1:30 a.m. Police said he had suffered trauma to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators were trying to determine a suspect and motive and did not believe the shooting was random, police said.

Woman dies in crash
after medical problem
A woman died in a crash Monday morning in McLean after suffering a medical emergency, police said.
About 6:15 a.m., officers responded to the westbound lanes of Leesburg Pike near the Dulles Toll Road, Fairfax County police said in a statement. They found that a 2014 Kia Optima traveling east on Leesburg Pike had crossed the median into the westbound lanes and hit a guardrail after the driver experienced a medical emergency, the statement said.
The driver, Shirley Lee Corum, 75, of Sterling, was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
