I work at a salon/spa doing massage. right now is out slow season. sometimes we will sit there for 8 hrs. straight with absolutly NOTHING. This is becomming more and more regular as the season drags on. its not just me, its me, and about 3 or 4 other therapists at a time.

ok so i am wondering this::
is it LEGAL for my boss to expect us to come in and sit there alllll day long with NO pay???? i live in NJ BTW.......
 
You don't have to sit there if you don't want to, just find another place to work that will let you come and go as you please and take that job. If you aren't at the place of business when someone does come in how would you expect to get any work at all? Of course you can always open your own place and then nobody would be there to tell you what to do.
