A massage therapist has been sentenced to jail for sexually assaulting two female clients at two Oakland County spas.

At a hearing Thursday morning in Oakland County Circuit Court, Judge Martha Anderson ordered Michael Svitil, 38, to spend a year in the Oakland County Jail for the two cases, in which a total of three counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct – forcible contact were charged. Svitil made a plea deal with prosecutors in June and pleaded no contest to the charges, designated as “high-court misdemeanors.”

One charge of third-degree criminal sexual conduct — punishable by up to 15 years in prison — was dismissed.


The assaults happened at a Bloomfield Hills spa in June 2022 and a Birmingham spa in August 2022 where Svitil worked. He’s been a licensed massage therapist in Michigan since 2013.

Svitil was sentenced as a habitual offender. His court file shows he has prior convictions for malicious destruction of police/fire department property in Midland in 2007 and a prior felonious assault in Midland in 2003.

Along with the jail time, Svitil will be on probation for five years. He’s required to complete sex offender treatment and can no longer work as a massage therapist.
