A 22-year-old former massage therapist accused of sexually battering a client at a spa in Winter Park last year was sentenced to five years in state prison this week and declared a sex offender, records show.
Antoni Alexander Ramos, of Orlando, was arrested after a woman told Winter Park police she fell asleep during a massage Sept. 9 at Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa on Orange Avenue, then awoke to find that Ramos was molesting her.
After the client ended the session, claiming a family member was waiting for her, she said that Ramos told her, “I’m sorry if I did something to make you feel uncomfortable.”
According to an affidavit from the investigation, the woman confronted Ramos in a phone call with detectives listening and recording. Asked what he was thinking when he sexually battered her, Ramos allegedly blamed “physical attraction.”
“It was wrong for me to do, I agree,” he said, according to the affidavit.
Ramos allegedly later called the victim back, asking if she was “going to write a report” and describing his behavior as “a dumb mistake” and “not something I should be doing in this profession.”
According to the affidavit, the victim had been a customer of the spa for two years and had been massaged by Ramos once before without incident.
Court records show Ramos pleaded no contest to felony sexual battery and two misdemeanors: battery and sexual misconduct in the practice of massage therapy. He was adjudicated guilty.
He was ordered to serve five years of sex-offender probation following his five-year prison term. He was also prohibited from working as a masseur and ordered to surrender his massage therapist license.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Ramos was in the custody of the Orange County Jail.
