A massage therapist who allegedly advertised “vampire facials” and other unlicensed beauty treatments is now facing a murder charge in connection with a woman who died in 2014 after receiving an illegal buttocks enhancement, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Sandra Yaneth Pérez-González, who also goes by the last name Slaughter, pleaded not guilty Thursday during her arraignment at the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse in Long Beach.
Pérez-González could face life in prison if she’s convicted. Long Beach police arrested her Tuesday, and prosecutors requested she be held on $2 million bail, according to authorities.
The murder charge stems from the February 2014 death of 36-year-old Hamilet Suarez.
Deputy District Attorney Lee Cernok, who is prosecuting the case, declined to say what prompted Pérez-González’s arrest three years after the alleged crime.
In 2014, Suarez went to Areli’s Beauty Salon, 2113 Pacific Ave., where she was scheduled for a massage, according to police.

Homicide detectives investigated the case and allegedly discovered Pérez-González was licensed to perform massages but that she also advertised procedures she was not allowed to perform such as butt lifts, lip augmentations and a “vampire facial,” which involves injecting a patient’s face with his or her own blood to counteract sagging and wrinkles.
Police said they found medical equipment and vials of controlled substances that Pérez-González had allegedly used to perform these procedures for more than a month.
Authorities originally arrested her on suspicion of possession of controlled substances, but she was never charged.
Suarez’ husband and young son are also suing Pérez-González and the salon she worked at.
The suit alleges Suarez was healthy before getting a buttocks augmentation at the salon where she was allegedly injected with “controlled substances” by Pérez-González.
