Cancer...Is Massage ok? I am a licensed massage therapist and got a request from a potential new client today who is recovering from stage 4 liver and bone cancer for house call appointments. She is getting treated naturally from a Dr. in Ecuador and has received no chemo or radiation and has been recommended to get regular massage as part of her treatment in recovery. I was told she is cancer-free. How would you go about this, and/or would you? I have not been trained extensively in cancer massage but I was educated in massage therapy school and have worked with clients with cancer and in remission. The thing is, I have never had a client that was undergoing only natural treatments. Should I have her get clearance from a modern and traditional western physician as well? I want to help her but am nervous about the risks. Any advice from trained professionals would be appreciated.
