Yes, it's very hard to get a job after training. The market is flooded with out of work LMTs. Massages are luxury, and these economic times are not great for public luxuries. The LMTs that are making it are usually associated with busy resorts/spas or full time medical clinics. And even those LMTs working for clinics are struggling.
Pay rate is decided by where you work. If you set up your own business, then you can charge whatever you want. Going rate around here is about $45-$60/hour. A hotel might charge $100/hour, but you will only get half that. A physician's office may bill $200 to insurance, but you probably get paid a flat rate per massage.
