I have mild scoliosis. In addition, I have advanced arthritis in my upper back and cervical area. And, I'm short in stature.
When I sit on the couch and read, it's difficult to get into a comfortable position, because my feet don't touch the floor. Sometimes I bring a stool over to put my feet on. When I was younger , I used to just curl my feet up to get comfy, and could sit that way for a long time. I also used to be able to stretch out on the bed to read, and prop my head up on my hands, leaning on my elbows.
Those last two poses are definite no-no's for me, now. I find that it's difficult to get into a comfortable position to read.
OK, here comes a weird question. I get regular, hour-long table massages every three weeks. The other day, I received a short "chair massage" The chair I sat in felt *wonderful*. I felt like my weight was evenly distributed, and that no stress was on my back. I couldn't help but think that this would make a great reading chair, if there were a stand underneath the head/donut part that could hold a book or magazine.
Do you know if any "consumers" have used a chair like that for reading purposes?
Thanks,
D.S.
