Looking to relax a little in the new year, or just hoping to set some healthy goals?
Beginning in January, the J.A. Walters Family YMCA at 2455 Howard Road in Gainesville will offer medical wellness services to YMCA members and nonmembers alike.
Services will include medical assessments for injury evaluation and nutritional counseling, massage therapy, physical therapy and post-rehab.
Massage techniques include Swedish massage, deep tissue, aromatherapy, acupressure, stretch and chair massages.
“Physical therapy and massage therapy, in addition to individual personal training, are wellness offerings that increase our ability to promote holistic health, wellbeing and fitness,” said Angie Beccue, Wellness Director at the J.A. Walters Family YMCA branch of the Georgia Mountains YMCA association.
She said YMCA members don’t have to leave the facility to get care after an injury. A massage therapist will be available to help relieve tension and pain.
“Motion, balance, injury and postural assessments and screenings can help you to be proactive about your physical health,” Beccue said. “It’s just so convenient.”
Medical assessments are available free to YMCA members, and they are available to non-members for a nominal fee. All other medical wellness services are available to YMCA members at a discounted price.
According to its website, the YMCA has a mission “to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.”
For more information, please contact Beccue at the J. A. Walters Family YMCA at 770-297-9622 or visit www.gamountainsymca.org.
