Massage Therapy Requirements in Scotland

Hi All,

I posted a thread WAAAAAY back in 2006 about this, but membership I'm sure has grown and changed, so hopefully someone will be able to tell me what the working Massage Therapy requirements in Scotland may be (if any). My husband and I are looking to move there in probably the late summer to early fall in 2012, and while he is very employable there due to his occupation being on the Occupation Shoreforum.xxxe List, I have NO IDEA what is required as an MT, or even a Yoga Instructor (which I am as well, a Kripalu trained RYT). Last I was there, in Glasgow this August I DID get a massage (it's so hard to find a therapist!) and didn't ask, as relocating to the UK wasn't on the periphery at the time.

I'm good to go work visa wise as a dependent on my husband's visa - though I'm considering going as a student so as to take classes as well so i would still be able to work 20 hours a week legally under that visa as well.

Can anyone enlighten me? I'm tracking down the contact info for the MT I saw in Glasgow as I type this.... but any other help is appreciated!

Sorry I don't have any first hand knowledge, but I was considering doing a 28 day training in Esalen massage at Findhorn near Inverness.

Here's my response to your original thread on the subject... in case you missed it.

I'd definitely try contacting massagengel with thier location listed as "Location: Scotland, originally Michigan" and provides you with the option to Send private message(PM) or Send a MSNM/WLM message (Windows Messenger).

The following members I found who have London listed as their location, who seem to be massage therapists:

  You can click on the profile of each of these and locate three member websites for those above. I decided against listing them in case the bots pick up that stuff, and the therapists don't want it picked up.
