A free community lecture on oncology massage, lymphedema awareness and how a caregiver can support with massage during or after cancer will be given from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wed., May 22 at the Cancer Support Community, 530 Hampshire Road, Westlake Thousand Oaks.
The interactive and informative workshop will cover how oncology massage therapy can support one’s health and wellbeing. Participants can gain awareness on lymphedema and how massage can be safe during and after cancer.
A family member or friend will learn how to apply safe and therapeutic massage seated in chairs.
The presenters are Steve Romey and Wendy Kunkel.
Romey is a certified oncology massage therapist and health educator. Kunkel is a certified holistic health coach. Together they provide educational workshops to the community.
Participants can bring along a family member or friend that is willing to provide support on the healing journey with cancer.
Attendees may bring an optional small hand towel, unscented lotion and pillow for use on the lap.
The room is a fragrance-free environment. Patrons should refrain from wearing perfume or scented lotion.
