Maternity Reflexology

Hi all

I have my certificate and my diploma in Reflex, but was just wondering whether I would need any further training if I wanted to do some maternity Reflexology. A few ladies and their partners are interested, dont want to go into this blind. Is there anything I should know apart from the danger times etc. I do have plenty of books of pregnancy and birth. with this and my knowledge of reflex, will it be enough??

Hi sorry this isn't a reply as such but I am in a similar situation. I have been qualified for a couple of years and have booked myself on to a maternity reflexology course for the end of March. have just had a phone call by a pregnant lady - just over three months - who would like some reflexology during her pregnancy. She also has ME and wants to stay as fit as she can. I already treat somebody with ME so that's okay. But I haven't treated anybody yet who's pregnant. I'm not worried about it but i would like some pointers please.

I am really looking forward to this as it will be amazing to see her through her pregnancy but are there any tips that you can give me so that I make sure I give her the best treatment. Thanks ever so much.

Hi have a look at this website........www.expectancy.co.uk. I have been in contact with Denise Tiran Director of the company via email and she has some fab courses based all over the world...........There is one in particular called Caring for Pregnant Clients if you want the info I will attach it if I can in the next post......there is a course in London in March £200 I think.......it also goes towards CPD points and can go towards Post Grad points for a degree.....this course is for complementary therapists like us who want to develop into the maternity side of reflexology. Hope this information is useful. I cannot attend as I live in the north! But I have emailed her today to ask her about Manchester courses. Watch this space !

Thnx for the excellent info about Denise Tiran's course. I will surely contact her since I've heard some good comments about her, although I've also heardthat she isa very tough woman, is this true? I've done some Maternity Reflexology courses before, some of them very good, some others so "money oriented" that I feltI was wasting mytime andmoney.

I now live in Bristol....nobody comes here to teach! When I attended Moshe Kruchik's course, Ihad to travelalmost the whole day. Arrived exhausted, but it was definitely worth. Every second and every penny. Came back home exhausted, but happy. So cheer up, Tracey, Manchester is not the end of the world!

If you know about somebodywho comes to the Bristol area, please email me. I'll be very grateful for the info.

Manchester is the area that I would be happy to travel to it is only 20 mins from me!! It is difficult to travel down south as I have a 2 year old and a 13 year old and no-one around me to look after them!
I don't have a problem travelling - I have a problem with childcare.

I have been in contact with Denise Tiran personally on email and she seems very helpful to me. Always willing to give information and she did not have to email me herself she could have gotten her secretary or PA to do it - if she has one!

I do appreciate that reflexology doesn't diagnose or treat specifics but would like to expand my knowledge in the care of pregnant women.

A Reflexology can't diagnose, however can certainly make an evaluation of the client's health and based on their findings give a proper advice.
