I recently hada session with a McTimony chiropractor and I wanted to share the experience as I found the treatment very powerful.
I've had back problems since I was 13, when the extremely heavy schoolbag that I carried over one shoulder caused pain and tension between my scapula and spine.
Later I developed a stiff sacroilliac joint in my pelvis, which also caused a great deal of pain.
Latterly I started to have neck problems- which were stemming from a slightly rotated atlas bone of the skull.
I went to the chiropractor and she worked the entire spine, right down to my feet, and then concentrated on the neck.
McTimony chiropractic does not involve 'cracking' or forceful spinal manipulations. It is a very gentle approach which uses quick movements and sweeps of the hand over each vertebrae (seems a bit wierd if you're used to traditional chiropractic). As I had the treatment I felt in almost a meditative and relaxed state.
Anyway, the night after the session was sleepless as I felt a burning sort of pain down one side of my back and all up through my neck. My foot (which I broke last year) also started to hurt. There were emotional symptoms also where I felt very upset, and then quite depressed (I have suffered from depression in the past).
This was a couple of days ago and the neck pain I went to the chiropractor for are completely gone. My upper back (between scapulaand spine, where the problems began) is also not painful. My lower back also feels considerably looser. My foot is still sore but I think it is getting better. Emotionally I feel much 'clearer', as though some supressed emotions have been released.
Overall I feel I went through a 'healing crisis'. I had to take time off work as I needed to 'let' the healing take place, rather than just get on with things as bury it all again.
I'm not saying that one treatment and I'm sudddenly 'cured', but I know that the session had a profound effect on me and went a long way towards easing up over 10 years of tension and problems.
I would whole-heartedly reccomend McTimony chiropractic!!
