Medical Massage Certification

To have or Not to have a Medical Massage Certificate, that is my question.  Has anyone taken or is taking either David Luthers or LMT Success Group, Medical Massage program?  If so do you feel it has benefitted you in the way of getting Drs. referrals.I have the opportunity to register for LMT Success Groups six course program to become certified in Medical Massage.  With the information I've been receiving, it appears that perhaps Drs. in the near future will not refer LMT's unless they have a MM certificate.  Any input on this subject will be greatly appreciated.I am a two years new LMT in Oregon and live in an area that has two schools that have the Massage Therapy program.  The area is glutted with grad students and I feel that if I can get a heads up, and get that extra certificate it may be a benefit.  But on the other hand I don't want to dump a bunch of money out (at one time) if the program really doesn't benefit.  Yes it will benefit my clients......  Please give me all thoughts on this subject.Thanks, Penny

Medical Massage Certification

I have taken all of the classes from The Medical Massage Office

and not only have I increased my referrals but so has everyone else in my office.  All of us have taken at least one class.  I do strickly referrals from Dr.'s now and I have to book Patients out about 2 weeks right now.  I would recommend taking the courses.  Insurance Co's have started making comments about not paying unless you are certified in Medical Massage, if you want to continue it is a small price to pay.

Comments on James Waslaski or Whitney Lowe's programs for medical massage certification?  Reccomend one over the other?

Hey Big Dog,Thanks for the input.  I have taken Luthers Ins Billing class, which was very helpful.  I've been in a state of indecision wether to go for the rest of his classes or take the classes from LMT Success Group.  Have you heard anything about LMT Success Group?  I'm leaning toward this group only because I can go to Portland for 3 days in Oct. and 3 in Nov. and I would be done, not to mention the price difference being a whole lot less.Anybody who has heard anything about LMT Success Group I'd really appreciate some input.  Thanks, Penny

I have to admit that I went with The Medical Massage Office because I saw that one of the instructors was on the Board for the National Medical Massage Certification.  My thoughts were if they are the ones looking at what it will take to be Nationally Certified then they will most likely teach to what the Board is concidering.  I felt it was better to spend a little now to save a lot latter.  I have not personally taken the LMT Success Groups classes, so I do not want to 'talk out of school'.   My thoughts are that those 6 days would make a good base to build on.  I have to admit that I have no problems with classes, I seem to pass with little effort.  But, with the TMMO classes I had to stop and think the situations through.  Thats what I want for my money, something that makes me work at it to learn.   I for one, think that you have to look at the long term advaneforum.xxxes/disadvaneforum.xxxes of each situation.  I do see that the insurance companies are looking at a way to save money.  If they believe that by only paying Certified Medical Massage Therapist is a way to do that, then they will make that a requirement.   Currently less then 10% of Massage Therapist bill insurance and they could cut that to 1 or 2% then they are saving a lot of money each year.

It seems that the general consensus is David Luthers classes are definetly worth the money.  I'm on another online discussion site and a few have taken his program.  I've not heard anything about LMT Success as of yet.Well this does give me "food for thought" on the subject.  I appreciate your input Big Dog.
