Drove 30 min. out to Mei's in Burlington early in the afternoon today to check it out for myself.
Upon arriving, noticed two fairly buff men dressed in professional clothes surveying the outside of the location, pointing, gesturing then one led the other in the front door. They did not look like "clients."
Was a confusing sight. Wasn't sure what to make of it. Mulled around at a distance outside for a while waiting to see if anything developed that could be seen, but saw nothing further.
Against my better instincts decided to proceed to visit the place as it had been a long drive to get there.
Opened the door and saw the two men behind what appeared to be a reception desk off to the right, sorting through papers, one of them pointed sternly and said in a gruff voice, what sounded like "talk to the owner."
At that point I was met by a very nervous looking, ~40 year old mama-san type who came running around the corner to my left.
In a visibly nervous voice and very incomplete English she said, "We very busy now. Not good time" and said to come back some other time.
Sensing a strange vibe, you could have cut the air with scissors in there at that point, it was so tense. I got out of there.
While leaving Mei's, there were people mulling around outside the children's store in front, looking nervously/gawking at both at the Mei's location and towards the parking lot in the back.
As I walked away, noticed what looked like a few of the neighbouring business proprietors/employees further down the row standing in their doorways looking towards the Mei's location. Some unusual energy going on there.
I have no idea what was going on but considering the recent bust of the Asian escort place in Mississauga, were they being inspected by LE?
Can't conclusively say, but it was a tense and strange vibe at and outside Mei's today.
Needless to say I headed out quite uneasy for what ended up being a complete waste of an hour.
