Hi Claire,
I have not done the Dougans course, although I would probably like to. I did part of a course by Moss Arnold last year and am doing the 2nd part this weekend. He is the founder of the Australian college of Chi Reflexology and has written a book called 'Chi Reflexology'.
He has developed his own methods of working with the meridians of the feet. He has also drawn out foot maps that are like other Reflex maps but, instead of placing the actual organs and structures on the feet, he believes that the reflex areas represent the chi in the body. (Chi of course being the energy that flows throughout the organs and meridians).
This method of Reflexology makes more sense to me than stating that the actual physical organs are represented on the feet as there is no biological connection- but i believe there is an energy one (how else can the effects of Reflexology be explained?).
Anyway, I would be interested to do the Dougans course as, although her books are very good, they possibly lack descriptions of techniques to work with meridians and chi energy - and a course may detail some techniques. The Moss Arnold book: 'Chi-Reflexology' is really good and i would reccomend reading it if you're interested in meridian work and Reflexology. The book by John Cross 'Acupressure and Reflextherapy' is also worth a look.
I'll let you know what i learn from the course this weekend.
