How do you pay yourself milage for mobile treatments?

I'm going to my clients house which is about 4-5 miles each way so do I count mileage and how do I include it on my accounts?

I haven't got a reciept book either, so how do I keep track. I have headed note paper, can I just write it out on this and make sure I keep a copy?

if its just 4-5 miles then really (in my opinion) you shouldn't be charging the client. But claim it back on your tax return.

Mileage is a difficult one, some organisations pay 25p per mile, I've just paid a tutor 40p a mile to travel to a venue.

Keep all your petrol receipts.

For a month I suggest you keep a notepad, marking down the mileage that you are using for business purposes and from that you can work out a percentage of what is business and what is private usage. I work on a 70% business percentage.

Oh no, I wasn't charging my client (shes getting a very cheap rate as it is - mates rates!) I was thinking about how I fill it out on my accounts i.e x amount of miles to minus from my income.

I think I'm confusing myself here!

I thought for tax purposes you put mileage down as 50p per mile - thats what I charge clients who are out of my area (I charge for over 10miles)

I think the going rate for your accounting is 42p ( But that may have been updated recently???) I'm sure you could check though on the web
