Misaligned Ribs

Weird.  I wonder what they look like on X-ray.I have a client that her bottom 3 ribs on her right side move and crack when I work on her.  But they move up toward her head and settle back into place (with fairly light work).  She's had major surgery on her abdomen (years ago) and she thinks that's why.  She says it feels good to have them moved, and when she's constipated she has me work that area on her back to help relieve it.  Odd, but it works.What do his doctors say about his spongy ribs?Katykangaroo

Misaligned Ribs

How are the Low Thoracics? I'm not sure what you mean by spongy, but it could be from the some seriously messed up obliques.I had a client whose obliques felt a little messed up, almost bubbly feeling. Very sensitive (more ticklish) but he had T12 stuck extended, rotated, and sidebent left. Treated the intercostals and obliques, then multifidi/rotatores and the psoas, and sensititivity decreased... couldn't mobilize as he was WAY too heavy and muscular...

I have worked with a chiropractor for a few years. As far as I know, misaligned ribs DO NOT cause spongy feeling. Something else is causing that, and I would tell him to get it checked out. Also maybe talk to his chiro. If his chiro is any good, he should know about the issue already, and be willing to talk to you. That doesn't sound good. I work on people constantly with ribs out of place, and they don't feel like that. They usually stick out further and the tissue/muscle around the rib is irritated and can be swollen. But  that sounds like some bone integrity issue to me. Hmmm...Good luck!
