mistaken identity at mps - i am not 5-0!

Hey,

I was wondering if I could get some advice. I am 6'1, in good shape, and i shave my head. Apparently that is what cops look like cause I get static and spend most of my time on the table convincing the attendants that I am not 5-0! Has that happened to anyone else? If so, any tips on what to do to settle them down?

I've been asked that several times, I don't know why. I usually ask them "Am I built like a cop?" (which I'm not) to which they usually laugh and calm down. Guess that's no help to you though.

Talk about stereotyping!!. They come in ALL shapes and sizes.

Used to have the same problem, but I always wondered, if LE wanted to pose as one of us, wouldn't they send someone who doesn't look like a cop?

Or maybe, anticipating this, would they send someone who looks
like a stereotypical cop, using reverse psychology?

Alternatively, how about reverse-reverse psychology? Or would that be double reverse psychology?

Do not go to the MP wearing jeans, running shoes, t-shirt and a jacket, cop look. Dress up a bit.

If the MPA is still nervous then offer to undress her

Frustrating, but I've been hit with that question a few times myself. I offer to show them my ID if they're that worried, that usually puts them at ease.

I once did a stupid move of coming to a MP with a NYPD T-Shirt, jeans and shades. I am 6'2 and well built which lead to everyone being really shady. I didn't realize what was going on till my MPA asked me if I was a cop. I laughed and said if I was a cop why would I be wearing a NYPD T-shirt. She then said because all cops support each other in down times. She made me play with myself and count to 10, then reluctantly proceeded with the massage ....... after the massage I got up (while naked) and said "YOUR BUSTED, put your hands behind your head!" ..... she yelled WHAT really loud and then saw me laughing ........ overall do not wear NYPD or FDNY stuff when going to get a massage!!!!

Trying a little humor doesn't work. At the beginning of a massage once, the MPA started off asking if I was LE. I turned around, grinned and said "yeah, I'm sorry to have to tell you this but I'm going to have to do a complete strip search of you." Which actually got a laugh out of her, put her at ease for what turned into a very nice session overall.

hey,

thanks for the responses. its happened a couple times during the last few visits to mps and in one case resulted in the crappiest time i've ever had! (avoid anything in the keele finch area!) i wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. it led me here in the hopes of finding a new mp to visit.
