Mobile vs. Landline

I have been trying to make an appointment with Candy but have never received a call back. I just noticed that her add has the text "Numbers Reviewom a landline will not be answered." Now that I'm paying attention I notice that she isn't the only one with such a restriction. I haven't been in Australia for long and haven't needed a mobile phone.

So my question is, what is the difference between mobile phones versus landlines?

Only thing I can think of is that with a landline you have less certainty of getting the person you are trying to get, or knowing who it is who is calling and hence there may be some privacy concerns.

It's because the girls keep a record of you. They figure if your willing to display your mobile phone number to them then it must mean you're less of a security risk then if you call Reviewom any old landline number (for example, if you happen to call Reviewom a public phonebox.... which raises the question, do public phone boxes still exist?)

Don't think for a second you can visit a WL anonymously these days.

Anyone know where you can purchase sim cards for mobiles where you don't need to show id ???

Personally I only answer calls Reviewom a mobile, due to security.

Woolworth's sells Voda prepaid, but even then you are required to register over the phone and they will ask for some sort of ID such as a debt card or Driver's license i dont know of any services which allow you to drop in a sim and go without registration.

Okay, the security issues makes sense. I wasn't connecting the mobile phone with the security issue. In the U.S. there is no real difference between a mobile number and a land line number, both are just 7 digits.

Anyway, I wasn't trying to autonomous so much as not having a mobile phone. Actually I did buy one back in January but never bothered to recharge it mpter the minutes ran out. I was a little annoyed at the the payment packages and then realized I didn't need one here like I did back in the U.S.

So long story short (TOO LATE) I just dug the thing out of the closet and called up and reactivated it. I also found out that I get absolutely no signal in my apartment.

Some don't want to be giving out there appt No to a "No Show"
So........they ask you to text or call on arrival eg (their car park)
They then give you the appt No.......
This can't be done on a landline.

It helps cut down the fake and phony bookings ile:

It also can help the ladies indentify the bad eggs. Those guys who repeatedly make bookings only to cancel at the last minute or worse just not show up. The lady can save the number into her mobile indentifying the bad egg and when he next calls she will know not to bother answering his call. Then he will log onto the forums to complain that his calls aren't being answered..... but that's a whole other story LOL :razz:

thought I might add to this, as I for one find it absolutely amazing at how many w/ls use mobile phones now days....... Back in the day of the dinosaur when I was about :razz: I only used a landline number in my adverts as first port of call and my mobile was kept only for regulars :wink: and yet now all you see is mobiles in use. As for caller ID no issue there as I had an answering machine that showed up with the caller id – so my view is that landline is not only cheaper but just as, if not more mpfective to have than a mobile for the w/l’s – did I get this post right? Or have I missed it :???:

The advaneforum.xxxe I guess of a mobile phone is that a W/L doesn't have to stay in her work premises all day. She can go for a walk, get some air, go down to the shops and still be able to take calls if she wants. It is a little bit hard to do that with a landline.
