More information on Complementary Therapy Regs

Thankyou for posting this article because I didnt see it earlier when I was reading the MRSA and essential oils from the BBC.

Personally, I think that if you are not qualified to practice these types of therapies in the future then you wont be able to get them unless you see a qualified professional.

In a way this is very beneficial especially for people that havent got a clue on how to use herbs, aromatherapy oils etc but in another way its going to terrible pee me off if I have to pay through the nose for a homepathic treatment or herbs when Ive had very good results in the past from them.

Im thinking that in the long run it may be beneficial for myself as well as my family if I carry on studying for qualifications such as herbalism etc.

What do you feel may be the future for us regarding the tightening up of CAMs?

I think that tightening up will hopefully mean we get more credibility and aren't treated like "quack". It's interesting that this last week there have been at least 2 studies which prove what we've known for a long time a) Essential oils have very powerful antibacterial properties and b) acupuncture does help those with arthritis. At last our therapies are being recognised and tigher regs will hopefully reinforce this trend. The only worry I have is that with so many colleges etc some people may miss out because their Smith and Bloggs qualification may not be recognised, but they may still be very good at what they do. There seems to be so many bodies out there who are vying for the place of top dog - I think it would be better if we all pull together.
Just my view of things!
