Ok Kids, the time has come. This fall I believe will be my last in business as I know it. (I have said this before but this time it seems unavoidable)
I am loosing my office and just dont know if I want to start over with a new one. (I'll explain....the womens fitness center where my office is located needs to either incorporate a new business or close. The new business is a Second Hand Store set to move into the large lobby my clients walk through to get to my office, I'll be danged if my clients are going to walk through a second hand store to get to me. If the store doesnt come in, the fitness center is closing anyway sooo I'm on the street.)
I'm starting to look around at possibilities. I'll have a little extra cash this fall so I'm thinking about just picking up and moving to the city (Im rural now) BUT before I choose which city, obviously I have to have some work lined up. I am thinking I would like to teach, have been successful for 7 years in this business so I know I'm as qualified as the teachers I had in school, but I dont know if things have changed or what is required of instructors now. I dont know what is needed to make a transition like that - anybody here done this?
ANd...
is it appropriate to send out email 'feelers' to the schools in the state asking if they are hiring or looking, THEN send a snappy resume and follow up, or just send the resume 1st and follow up? Havent ever had to actually apply for a massage job before, since my business was my first experience. :S
a note - was looking online and found a job opening at a salon in the city - for a massage therapist. The place offered $8.50 - $10 an hour, with commission. Are you kidding me? Is this normal? And how much can one possibly make on commission and commission of what exactly? Future massages or salon product? I hope to god that is not all I have waiting for me in the employee world. :S help.
