musical massage anyone?

I am in the process of redoing my main brochure, and I had a brain storm. Musical Massage. Perhaps I read this somewhere else before?? I am not certain...

Anyway, my idea would be to have a few pieces of music, for instance, Beethovens 5th, I could play it twice and an hour would just about be up. This massage would be an orchestrated one, basically a rehearsed relaxation massage massaging to the beat of the music. Other pieces could be used as well, and not have to be classical. Pink Floyd anyone??

yes! I find myself pretty much "dancing" through a massage, working with the music. I don't really have a specific orchestrated massage (okay, not at all), but definitely work totally with the music, and the clients really do love it. I think advertising it that way would be really cool. Go for it!

Sure, why not??? Sounds like a good idea! You can also encourage them to give you suggestions, or bring in their favorite music!!!

Yes!! Pink Floyd, Dark Side of the Moon playing while they watch The Wizard of Oz AND get a Massage....now that would be trippy!

I was just thinking of somethig similar today (musical massage not Pink Floyd)....because I to "dance" in a way while I give a massage. It all flows into one...the music, the massage, the space cadet-ness of it all. I was telling a client today, no wonder people think MTs are space cadets, we get into those meditative states during massage and it's hard to come back to the lower frequencies of normal living!! No bong hits required!

I'd like to be massaging to live music.
I have BIG gongs hanging from the ceiling along one side of my room.
Unfortuately I have not worked out how to play them at the same time as being hands on so I just use them sometimes to close the session.
If only there were two of me......

This is a great idea... in fact, I know an MT who's a musician who composed an hour of music specifically to give massage to...

Many of his clients comment, surprised, at how well the massage and the music "fit"... so I imagine that if you do this, your clients will notice!

I may be crazy, but I have played the same CD (a reiki cd) for nearly every massage I have given and received since graduating over a year ago.

Some of my clients are relating to the music in the same way they relate to being in the office, getting on the table, etc. The consistency helps relax them before I ever touch them.

I have a favorite cd that I play often that has a native american quality to it with lots of flute. One of my clients asked about it, I told her where I had gotten it and she bought it for home. Now she says that when she plays it at home, she thinks, "Now Lisa would be doing my back, or my feet" She is able to go back to that relaxing feeling that she associates with the music and the massage. I hadn't thought about it before that but it makes sense. Kind of cracked me up to think of her zoned out at home listening to it.

I did this too for about a year when I worked at a resort. A favourite Carlos Nakai cd "Inner Voices".
didn't get bored with it just further and further into it and flowing with it.

Not I have a six stack player in my home clinic and I have more variety.
