Hello
Another person with a back problem!!
I first starting get pain in my lower back in March 2006. it would only last an hour or so at first and it wasn't painful- more of a dull ache. I thought it was because i had sat funny. About a month or so later the pain grew and would last for longer periods of time. I went to the doctor's who said it was a muscle problem and gave me pain killers. I took them for a while but the pain got worse so I went to see my other doctor who said it was inflammation in my sacro-iliac joint na dgave me a different type of pain killers. About 6 months ago as i was about to move house, my back pain flared up but was much worse. It lastest for a whole week and i was stiff, and felt numbness around my whole pelvis area and upper thighs. it is mainly on the left side but occasionally i get it on the right and around the lower lumbar spine in the middle. Sicne then i have had the pain at this severity on and off - it's not totally constant. I have had 14 days off work sick (signed off by doctor). My new doctor thought it was sacroilitis - had x-rays and blood tests but all clear - showed nothing. She gave me different pain killers and valium. The valium helps me sleep when i have back pain and helps relax the muscles in my buttocks but i only take it at night as it wipes me out. I have now been refered to physio who thinks its posture related and have been doing core stability exercises. My back pain hasn't improved at all! I thought for a while that it was linked to my period - no pain during mentrual bleed but pain the rest of the time!
Any ideas as it is getting me down a lot. What with so much time off work, they aren't very happy with me. Had an ergonomic workstation assessment last week and I'm getting a new chair but i'm not convinced this amount of back pain can be caused by posture.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Bright Blessings
