My boyfriend refuses to meet my family, or introduce me to his...why?

So I've been seeing a guy for a couple of months now, and things have gotten pretty serious. He and I are talking about moving in together, but my only real caveat is that I want my family (at least the family nearby) to meet him first. He seemed ok with that, but now every time I bring it up (and try to think of non-stressful ways of introducing him to everyone), he says he won't go, or even gets angry if I bring it up. He has no desire whatsoever to introduce me to his family, which is fine..he's not as close to his family as I am to mine, so I can understand it...but if he loves me like he says he does....why is meeting my family such a big deal? He told me once that he was afraid they wouldn't like him, but I assured him that it doesn't really matter to met whether they like him or not, since I'll love him either way...honestly just the fact that he wont' meet them bothers me more than the idea of them not liking them. What's the deal?

The deal is that he sees that as the "next step" in your relationship, and meeting families is even more serious to him than moving in together. He isn't ready to meet your family. A couple of months isn't enough to move in together. I would take the pressure off by not bringing it up. I would also keep my options open....

I wouldn't want to meet my partners parents either!, its embarrassing and scary!.. especially when they ask you loads of questions!!
Dont hold it against him!, it doesnt men he loves you any less because he doesnt want to meet them

He's just a little afraid of commitment and maybe that seems like a big step for him. I'm surprised that moving in with you isn't though. Guys are like ruber bands. You should step back. Don't even mention your parents meeting him. In fact, tell him your not ready to move in together. He'll snap back if you give him room. Let him chase you. It will take pressure off him and make him wonder if he's losing you which will make him want to keep you. The killer to any relationship is a needy girl who gives all to him. He will run after someone he can chase. It's in his blood.

Yes, he loves YOU; his love for you has nothing to do with wanting or not wanting to meet your family. He's given you a reason already. He's insecure about himself, or he's covering that he would be uncomfortable in that situation, or there's another reason. Discuss it with him, but don't demand reasons. If he wants to tell you (if there's a hidden reason) then he'll tell you, don't try forcing something out he's not ready to share.

The reason he's given you is that he'll think THEY won't like him. Your love for him has nothing to do with his fear that your family won't like your boyfriend, nor telling about your love for him makes him feel better about something totally unrelated.
