Myoskeletal Alignment Technique...anyone trained in this?

Hi all~

I'm wondering if anyone has taken Eric Dalton's myoskeletal alignment technique courses, and if so, how they compare with Structural Integration techniques (Rolfing, CORE Institute, John Latz CTM, etc).
Any thoughts/info would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

i've studied the mat homestudy courses and used some of the protocol/techniques at a chiro office where i had worked for a couple years. some good stuff to work deep on structure and on vertebral dysfunctions.

Just finished the course and it was great! One therapist I met in class was well trained in structural integration and said the work was similar. Dalton studied under Ida Rolf and has great respect for her work but I don't think its similar work to rolfing.

Anyone who is interested in the scientific research that has been done in the massage field lately and wants to make their work more effective, as opposed to just feeling good, will definitely get something out of this class.

Oh yeah, the teacher aides were really helpful and Dalton was good about keeping the class on topic, also he's very talkitive so get ready to hear a lot of information, he gives a refresher in anatomy so you can better understand his methods.

He brought the "Dirty Dozen" Myoskeletal Techniques to the Long Beach class. I also purchased the Advanced Myoskeletal Techniques home study course (they are giving deals at the classes), so am excited about starting that one.

Hope you enjoy your class, I also have been wanting to take one of his classes for a while. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!!

I am considering buying one of Dalton's DVD sets. I have been practicing for almost 5 years and do primarily specific work to injured tissue. I work with a Chiro. So, I don't know what would be better - the original DVD or the Advanced one. I would hate to skip ahead to the advanced one and miss some key work that was talked about in the first one. Does anyone know the difference between the two?
Also, I signed up for a Rossiter class in Worcester, MA but it got cancelled because no one else signed up, surprisingly. Anyone interested in joining me Nov. 9-11 so it won't get cancelled????

The original set will give you a lot of very good information. For his techniques, I believe it's important to start at the beginning, unless you have a pretty strong background in Rolfing/Structural Integration, since his methods resemble those.

The original set is not a "beginner" set if that's what you're concerned about. Lots of science and method presented. The advanced set is fine-tuning and specific soft tissue pathologies. Also very, very good.

My opinion? Yes. If you really want to be sure, check out the video samples on his site. They are pretty representative of the content of the original series. They're fairly information and technique rich.

Yes - I've done both sets via the homestudy program. I had 5+ years of experience and I STILL go back to the beginning DVD's at times to refresh. It is an enormous amount of information.

Becuase of my experience working at a chiropractic clinic with severe and chronic conditions I found the information extremely helpful to me. Now in private practice I still tend to attract clients with high pain levels, severe ROM restricstions, etc and incorporate MAT in many of my sessions.

I'm not a "purest" or whatever - I also do a lot of other techniques depending on what the clients needs seem to be ....but I've grateful I took the courses when I did. They were very helpful.

I've never done rolfing classes so can't speak to that, but I know he refers to rolfing throughout his series so an experienced Rolfer might find some similarities.
