National Massage Therapy Awareness Week

Hey it's National massage therapy awareness week.

Did anyone participate in this event? The AMTA promotes this as a way to showcase massage. Yet, on their website they promised to send a poster with the Fall MT Journal, and it hasn't arrived in my mailbox yet.
It's already Thursday, seems kinda late. :roll: :shock:
I also just got an e-mail from the chapter admin. wanting some info about what we've done ASAP for an article in Massage Mag. :? She was also out of the office most of the week. Hello?
Doesn't the AMTA realize they've dropped the ball?

Well,,, this what I've done:
1. A 30 min. radio show on Tuesday.
2. Chair massage at the local senior center, donated the $1.00 fee ( discounted for this event) back to the senior center.
I was interviewed by the local TV station 8) but they didn't run it. :

I'm kinda steamed that the AMTA didn't really come through with this event that they started.

It is? I wasn't aware of that. It seems it always slips by me unnoticed year after year.

Um...no offense to those who are working away at it, but it doesn't seem to be working (see first paragraph.)

Before anybody gets their sneakers in a twist or their Fruit of the Looms in a bunch, I should mention that years ago I was on the "inside" and worked away at promoting National Massage Therapy Awareness Week in Canada and I wasn't any more successful then, either.

I forget what the magic stat is where critical mass is reached and a product or service gets the sudden magic boost that puts it in the front of everyone's eyes and brains. We're a long way from achieving Coke-like status...Chia-pet status might even be good. (Sing it! "Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-chia!")

Part of the problem, I suspect, is that as a group we're hard to mobilize at once. When I was part of the bureaucracy it felt like I was trying to herd cats. Now I'm one of the ones who is difficult to herd, cuz that's the kind of cat I am.
