NCBTMB Hires Shelly Johnson as CEO - Massage Magazine

On Jan. 28, the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) announced it has hired Shelly Johnson as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Johnson is a proven leader in the non-profit sector with over 25 years of experience in advancing strategic direction and formulating solid infrastructures for various foundations, trade, and professional organizations throughout the country. She also brings over a decade of previous experience in the massage therapy and bodywork profession having previously served as Deputy Director of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) from 2002-2010 and Executive Director from 2010-2013.

Resnick, PhD, ATC, BCTMB, Board President, NCBTMB, is excited about the hiring: “Shelly comes to NCBTMB with a unique blend of massage and accreditation experience that will continue to advance the mission of NCBTMB as we propel the profession forward through Board Certification, the highest voluntary credential.”

As a value-driven and data-driven, strategy-focused leader with a proven track record of results, Johnson’s previous successes include notable roles as executive director of the Elevator Escalator Safety Foundation and the American Society of Neuroscience Nurses, as well as executive positions at the American Board of Neuroscience Nursing, the Neuroscience Nursing Foundation, and the American Society for Healthcare Materials Management of the American Hospital Association, to name a few.

Johnson’s official start date at NCBTMB was January 27, 2020.
