One of the first things I discuss with a client is the need to breath. That is during periods of discomfort, pain or stress, taking nice deep breaths can produce a feeling of relaxation and relief from tension. I, too will always remain aware of my breath while giving a massage and practice the same breathing technique. Recently, well in the last couple of years, I have noticed that, occassionally, I will take a breath that is almost like a shock or surprise breath. It's as though I have been caught off gaurd by something I have unknowingly crossed paths with. Or, maybe, it's just a reminder that these clients are shallow breath takers?? Maybe, they need a breathing place/space? Some clients will notice this and ask me if I am ok or tired? I think they are concerned. I am ok but I dont have control over this paticular problem???. Really dont know what to call it. Most of the time, I believe it is a sign to me that I must ask the client to take a few cleansing breaths but it is still a shock to some when they hear my breath. Maybe, shock is strong. Maybe, confusion...general interest...Help....
