Need any opinions/warnings on using infrared devices

Hi All,

Just browsing the Net on this rainy evening and came across this website:

Looks like they have a VERY inexpensive infrared pain relief device. Was looking into the Wullstones, but can't afford them at this time. Is this something that might give the same treatment/results?

Would also like anyone's advice/recommendations on personal TENS units or devices such as this that other MTs might be using. Is this something we can use as MTs in TX. Our state seems to like to tie our hands on some stuff.... but I am sure every state has its restrictions on things.

Any advice on this is greatly appreciated!

Hi Cosmictouch. I took a look at the website, and, as far as I can figure out, the unit is a infrared light, rather than a unit you actually massage with (am I wrong?) I'm sure regardless, the heat would feel good. And for 10 bucks, it certainly seems worth a try.

Yes, this is ONLY the infrared heat therapy, not a massager too. I would LOVE to have some Wullstones, but just can't afford them right now and am looking for something to add to my repetoire (SP)?

Will let you know if I try this, how I use it and how it works.

I use a floor standing infrared heat lamp in my Reflexology practice. The lamp serves one purpose: to warm the client. I simply turn the lamp on and let it warm the core of my client while he/she sleeps. Very useful in chilly Northeast America, and especially useful for cold feet and hands! The timer emits a hum that my clients say sounds like a "cat purring" which they enjoy. I would find no use for a hand-held infrared lamp unless I was an acupuncturist and needed to get heat to a specific and small area that the standing lamp couldn't reach e.g. lateral malleolus of the opposite foot the standing lamp was near. My unit runs around $180 dollars with a 5" bulb, adjustable neck, temperature controller and timer function.
