Need help introducing cats?

My boyfriend and I are finally getting a place together (yay) but we're both bringing our beloved cats with us. Both are about 4-5 years old. Mine is a female, his is male. Both are fixed. His cat has lived with three other dogs but my cat has been the only animal in her house. The good news is that the place will be new to both felines and neither will have any claim over it. Is there any way we can make our household harmonious?

i have a dsh eight month old that thinks he runs the place........from 4:00 am when i get up to about noon........he loves to wrestle the other 10 cats in the house and chase them...........

when he picks on the 14 year old siamese, i pick him up and severely punish him..........he gets kisses on his head, cheeks and his throat !!!!

he loves to rub his face on mine........and there is purring and joy by all !!!!

then i let him go and he forgets what evil he was up to !!!!!

well since cats are so independent and territorial, you will have to keep them separated for at least 2 days. they will sense each other, and grow accustomed to it. once introduced into the whole of the home together, if one swipes, back in the room for a timeout. the one that didn't swipe gets affection and treats. good luck!

I wouldn't keep them apart because then they will both assume they are the top cat.Introduce them and stay with them incase they fight.Stick to petting your cat and dealing with yours and your boyfriend with his.Keep the food the same brand also that the cats are used to and litter..Keep their litter trays in separate rooms and their feeding bowls should also be apart.Cats don't take too well to change at the best of times but with patience and love they should come around and at worse tolerate each other.Good luck.
