Need Help!!!

I have been looking to do massage courses for a while now, i am unsure on what courses would offer me the best. i want to do sport massage, holistic and hot stone.
i would love some advice on what qualifications would be best and same for courses and the cost.

Hi Jenna 21,

Your best bet would be to pick a discipline which you think would suit you, or you would like.
Then pick a few Courses in that discipline.

If you tell us about the Courses you are thinking about doing (who runs them/what they are) some of us on here, perhaps not me though, will be able to give you some honest feedback.

Otherwise all you will get are opinions about which courses are best (and we'll probably all disagree!).

well im hoping to work abroad, so it would mean to do ITEC. Ive found some in the area that i live, but im not sure of them as some do the course together and some break it down into 3 different courses. the main field that i want to go into is sports massage.
but it would be best for me if possible to stay in the oxfordshire area.

Having an ITEC qualification doesn't necessarily guarantee you recognition abroad (despite the 'I' standing for International!). If you have a country in mind, it may be worth doing a bit of investigation about what sort of qualifications they require.

As Jabba says, ITEC isn't a guarantee of practising abroad. But ITEC is a worthwhile qualification, but courses are generally as good as the tutor and the student who puts the time and effort into it.

If you are looking at massage as a career, then you have to do Anatomy, Physiology & Holistic Massage first, then do Hot Stones & Sports Massage afterwards. Out in the big wide world of practising therapies and making a living, you would be recommended to do all three.

I can highly recommend doing an MTI holistic massage course if there is one near where you live: I personally am so glad I didn't do ITEC as the MTI course was amazing (in my area the MTI school has started to run "enhancement" courses for people who have done ITEC).

thanks for the advice
i did look into doing a MTI course but i wasnt sure about it, as there was no information on the website for the cpd that go with the course.
the itec courses are in my local area, i think that if i do them i would do A&P, then holistic massage.

Hi Jenna

Some colleges run A&P separate from Massage, and some run them both together. Since Pinky mentioned MTI in her previous post, I did look at their syllable and it looks well constructed. But at the end of the day ITEC, VTCT or any other course is dependent on the skills & knowledge of the tutor and how they can put this across. What ever you do, post grad/CPD is a must regardless of the exam board in question. Just see it as a healing journey - not just for the client but for yourself.
