Need Mailing list advice

I will be doing my first chair event this Saturday and can't for the life of me think of a creative/fun way to have people sign up for my mailing list.

What do you do? Have people sign a post card? Slips of paper in a fish bowl, etc. I am drawing a blank on something original.

For chair events, I have had raffels.

I make a form they fill out with (regular paper cut into small strips)
Name
Address
Phone
Email

I add options to be circled on the bottom like:
Interested in massage
Interested in chair at company
Interested in being on mailing list.

I have the statement: your personal information will not be shared.

They fill out this form and place it in the raffel box. I have gotten a good mailing list and some other chair jobs from doing this.

I get so super annoyed by this....

I do the above - and find that many people (most) who sign up for the raffle are too lazy and/or they know what I'm up to (getting their address for a mail out) and they just fill out their phone number and skip their address. Would they rather I call them to tell them about my business?

I have found that people are more willing to give their email address' though, and then I can build a client list of emails to send e-mailouts. Very easy and many just reply back and want an appointment. I have been much happier with this version. I set out a nice spiral bound notebook with a small sign about the benefits and convenience of emails and let them sign their name/addy.

Hey Jess, sounds like you're covering all things...I think most of us have a drawing for a free massage, which you could do as well, or you could buy a gas card or a wide variety of things.

I buy registration slips from InstyPrints, 5 pads of 100 for 3.50, but you could make your own to customize them like mentioned above. Having them all attached is nice for being outside. I use a big vase instead of a bowel or basket. I don't know if it matters what the vessel is.

I find that people will give me their address but not email address. The slips have a line for email. I use anywho.com to reverse lookup an address if only a phone number is left. Sometimes those that only leave a cell phone number will be a winner, and if they come in...then I have their address. If they don't come in, then I don't want them for a client. :wink:

I think a clipboard with a sheet made for signup purposes would work great. I like the spiral notebook and email sign idea too!! mick
