Need some advice about "on call" spa job

Thank you cabwy and mtnlionz. You've helped me out alot. I did call my boss and told her I was unable to go in. It's just hard because she's very "you work for us, we don't work for you" or "I guess your job doesn't mean much to you" type of person. I'm the type of person that people run all over and I feel guilty for it. You guys are right, I do need my rest.

As employers, we honor our therapists' needs for days off. If we call and someone can't/won't come in to work on their day off, that's okay. Life would be easier (for us) if they did, but it is OUR problem to solve, NOT theirs.

Making them feel guilty about keeping their day off just undermines morale and creates different problems that are harder to solve.

I agree. And really, if both of the MTs they currently have on call are pregnant, they may want to consider adding an additional MT to their staff. After all, as difficult as it is to schedule now, with 2 MTs who are pregnant and sick... how much more difficult could it be once the babies are born? Not to mention having someone cover maternity leave?
