Need some information about Phuket

I will attend a TEFL course in Nov of this year. If anyone can provide hotel, beach, nightlife information near the school. I would greatly appreciate it. The website for the school only gives the location of the school (it's in Phuket).

The Text-and-Talk Acedemy At the top of Rat-u-Thit corner is the best TEFL in Thailand to learn to teach in Thailand. They'll even MAKE SURE you get a decent job in Thailand if that is your wish. In Patong; The Boutique Hotel is cheap and about 50 yards from the school. The Family Inn is 3 buildings down and still cheap but it has a pool!!!! Larrs may well be right, but if you have already paid for course in Phuket Town then you will probably find it much better to stay in Phuket Town - there is no beach there - Patong beach and the western orientated nightlife is 15km away so you may well find renting/buying a motorbike useful.
Phuket City (its been upgraded from a town) has a nightlife too but more for locals and its pretty good once you get familier with things here and speak some Thai!

Some new hotels in Phuket City like Phuket Cyber Inn (not sure of website but very new/clean and cheap) or OnOn of 'The Beach' fame but probably worth you looking around for a good deal when you get here.

If you have a degree and are looking for cash, skip the TEFL and come to Japan. Make 4 times the money but sacrifice the living conditions. Just another thought. I don't know why TEFL is so important in Thailand...probably because the schools make so much money off of it.

As far as I know the govt. has made it a requirement in Thailand for teaching English. If you want to get a work permit you must have the TEFL cert.
